Three-dimensional structure and transport pathways of dust aerosols over West Asia

چکیده

Abstract This study investigates the seasonal climatology of three-dimensional distribution and transport pathways dust aerosols over West Asia (WA). Dust column loading WA exhibits strong seasonality, with markedly high (weak) during summer (winter). The features include (i) reaching up to 500 hPa level between Red Sea (RS) west coast Indian subcontinent (IS); (ii) a slantwise advection 850 700 levels Arabian Peninsula (AP) (AS); (iii) prominent mid-tropospheric zonal AP toward IS. Maximum integrated horizontal mass flux (DMF) is observed in summer. intraday changes intensity spatial spread DMF are mediated by out-of-phase evolution surface winds low-level Shamal jets. Furthermore, diurnal strength inversion layers located above monsoon boundary layer associated wind shear regulate patterns AS. findings will support future studies aiming at quantifying radiative effects on regional climate.

Dust Crises and its Regional Geopolitical and Security Impact in West Asia

Western Asia has recently become an arena for significant upheavals of various kinds, be it political, safety-related, geopolitical, social, etc. These have in turn focalized the salience of the region as well as its ensuing situation and challenges on a global perspective. Such a naturally-born phenomenon is characterized, amidst other factors, by its transregional quality, granting it some so...

Aerosols and Climate: a Perspective over East Asia

Aerosol is becoming a central theme in the climate research arena, due to many new findings concerning their significant direct and indirect effects on climate (e.g. by altering temperature, cloud, radiation and precipitation) and to the large uncertainties in our estimates of aerosol forcing on climate. Despite the large loading and complex properties of East Asian aerosols, our knowledge of t...
